Evaluating the impact of biodiversity offsetting on native vegetation
Sophus O. S. E. zu Ermgassen e outros, 2023 · Global Change Biology
Regeneration offsets enrolled under Victoria's Native Vegetation Framework increased woody vegetation cover by an estimated 2.75 percentage points more per year compared to biophysically matched control sites.

This is based on the regression, with parcel ID as a random effect, which yielded a parameter of interest β 7 = .0275, p = <.001, CI = .019–.036 with a model R 2 = .72
Contexto
What changed: Native vegetation regeneration offsets enrolled in Victoria between 2006 and 2008 were evaluated for changes in woody vegetation extent over a 10-year period (2008–2018). Comparison: Control land parcels matched 1:1 on biophysical and spatial economic covariates. Limits: The estimated impact weakened considerably when using future-enrolled offsets to adjust for landowner self-selection bias, and disappeared entirely after dropping a parcel burned in the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires.
