Do benefit recipients change their labor supply after receiving the cash transfer? Evidence from the Peruvian Juntos program
Fernando Fernández e outros, 2014 · IZA Journal of Labor & Development
Recipients cut weekly hours by about 6 hours in the week after the transfer is paid, roughly a fifth of their hours. The paper reads this as a short-run income effect. The effect is larger for married women and mothers of young children.

Contexto
What varies: the distance between a village's payment date and the survey's reference week, which is close to random within a municipality. Limits: a short-run response in one week, mainly for female recipients in Peru; the paper checks payment logistics and finds they do not drive the result.
